New Colombiere Jesuit Community Residence
On September 11, 2011, a dedication Mass was celebrated for the new Colombiere Jesuit Community Residence in Baltimore, Maryland. The home is run by the Maryland Jesuit Province and provides appropriate housing and care facilities for 38 senior Jesuits who need more assistance with daily living than can be provided by the Province’s existing apostolic communities. Because of its long standing relationship with the Maryland Province Society of Jesus, the Loyola Foundation made a contribution in 2010 to the Cura Personalis Building Fund campaign.

Bringing hope to the people of Haiti
In May 2010, accompanied by three Sisters of Charity and two laywomen, the Foundation's Executive Director, A. Gregory McCarthy IV went on a fact-finding mission to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. While there, he observed the life-saving work of the Kansas City based Heart to Heart humanitarian relief organization.

The Role of women in the Catholic Church
In March 2010 Loyola Foundation president Andrea Hattler Bramson traveled to Rome with five women from Catholic family foundations. The purpose of their trip was to encourage Catholic leaders to include women in positions of leadership and influence within the Catholic Church.

The visit included meetings with Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue; Cardinal Tarciso Bertone, Secretary of State of Vatican City; Lesley Anne Warren of Caritas International; and leaders from Vatican Radio. All conversations were cordial and professional. The outcome of the trip has been the identification of several projects that will help highlight and develop women.

Solidarity with Africa Campaign
Under the chairmanship of Bishop John Ricard SSJ, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops began the Solidarity with Africa Campaign. The purpose is to promote a program of mutual enrichment and assistance between the United States Catholic Church and the Catholic Church in Africa

In August 2009, the first Solidarity visit to Africa was undertaken. South Africa was chosen as the destination for this first solidarity visit because of its easy accessibility and the intensity with which it has been hit with the HIV and AIDS epidemic.

Bishop Ricard and Bishop John Wester, Chairman of Catholic Migration and Human Services travelled as ambassadors for the USCCB. As a member of the USCCB Solidarity Committee, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick was also part of the delegation. Cardinal McCarrick traveled to the landlocked kingdom of Swaziland. He and the rest of the delegation with him were hosted by Bishop Louis Mdlovu of Manzini. Cardinal McCarrick visited the King of Swaziland, Mswati III, and expressed support for the work of the Catholic Church in Swaziland.
